U.S. SOCOM requires small, lightweight, concealable stabilization devices for target designators, cameras, and other imagers. A fieldable solution must be rugged, fold into a very small form factor, and weigh less than one pound.

TRI Austin used a novel composite manufacturing process to build carbon fiber reinforced tubular grid structures as primary structural members of the design.  This approach allows the stabilizer to meet the challenging weight requirement with adequate strength to support 2-15 lbs. The stabilizer design has legs which fold/telescope into extended positions.  To increase versatility, segments are linearly joinable for operation while standing.
